A police lieutenant named Marshall (Henry Cavill) gets involved in an investigation involving the body of a young dead girl. Marshall is now on the hunt to identify the mysterious person behind this murder and the kidnapping of other young girls. While investigating, Marshall brings in a man who could be connected to the case as well as many other unsolved cases. Now it is up to Marshall and his team to question this mysterious man and crack the case to save the lives of many other women.

Night Hunter is loaded with many familiar actors. Not only do we have Henry Cavill playing the character of Marshall but joining him is Stanley Tucci as his police captain and Alexandra Daddario who plays the lead interrogator. Actor Ben Kingsley also makes an interesting appearance as a character who lost his family and is seeking revenge. Firefly fans will also be surprised to see actor Nathan Fillion appearing in a minor role.

As far as negatives go, there are elements which held this film back notably when it comes to pacing. Watching the final cut of this film feels somewhat rushed and unfinished. There are scenes which end quite quickly, and the next scene doesn’t quite match up to what we just saw. One example of this is when we see a character die and the next scene has no connection to what we just saw, not even acknowledging what just occurred. Moments like these truly did hurt the film and hindered it from being a greater thriller. The same could be said when the film introduces Marshall as a character. His introduction is rushed and vague with little back story.

Overall, those who enjoy a good thriller will find pleasure in this film. There is some solid acting in this film. Henry Cavill brings a character and a performance, unlike anything we have seen from the actor before. The film twist for me was unpredictable. It is only unfortunate that the film had gaps and quick scene cuts, making the movie feel somewhat unpolished or unfinished. It is a great concept as a thriller, and I’m confident many will enjoy. I’d suggest watching Night Hunter if you enjoyed such films as Kiss The Girls (1997) or Along Came A Spider (2001).
