The Purr-fect Premise
Have you ever found yourself watching one cat video after another? Perhaps you enjoy watching adorable cats just being cute and sweet, or maybe you take joy in watching clips of cats misbehaving and causing plenty of mischief. If you’re a cat lover of any kind, CatVideoFest 2025 may be the perfect cinematic experience for you.
A Compilation of Cat Chaos
CatVideoFest 2025 is 74 minutes of nothing but cat videos, presented in the same manner and style you’d find on various social media platforms.

Every Cat You Can Imagine
This film showcases every kind of cat I could imagine. Cats are fighting, sneezing, being crazy or clever, jumping, flying, climbing, drinking, eating, loving — and even working out or catching fish. In addition to the endless stream of random clips and short videos, viewers are also treated to five animated segments that are instantly recognisable to long-time fans of the fest.
Categorised Cat-tainment
Broken down into categories like Drama, Action/Adventure, Cat GIFs, Documentary, Music, and, of course, Comedy, CatVideoFest 2025 offers a light-hearted, brainless good time that’s suitable for all ages — and is best enjoyed with a cinema audience who shares a common love for all things feline.

Sounds Ridiculous? Kind of…But That’s the Charm
For those unfamiliar with the concept, CatVideoFest might sound like a ridiculous experience — and to be fair, you wouldn’t be entirely wrong. But that’s also what makes it so great: its brilliance lies in its simplicity. Despite the silliness, it leaves viewers feeling genuinely happy and joyful, as cat videos have been doing since the first cat video in 1887- proof that this feline phenomenon has been charming audiences longer than any of us have been alive. Even better, every cinema ticket sold helps raise money for cats in need — a triple win for cat lovers everywhere. It’s no surprise that a new CatVideoFest feature is released each year and has become a global sensation. This 2025 edition marks the event’s fifth year! The latest instalment, CatVideoFest 2025, was written and directed by Will Braden.
Allergic, But Still Amused
I’m allergic to cats, so I’ll likely never own one myself. While cats aren’t my favourite kind of pet, I can’t deny that this film has a genuinely clever concept, and I found myself smiling and grinning at multiple clips throughout. It’s rare these days to find a truly perfect movie (or should I say purr-fect film) for families to enjoy some light-hearted fun together on the big screen.

A Few Catty Criticisms
While the concept is excellent and fun for all ages, there are a few odd choices in this year’s feature. For starters, the use of chapters feels unnecessary and doesn’t quite fit the casual, free-flowing nature of the content. And while the animated clips undoubtedly have their fans on social media and are well-executed, their inclusion here felt out of place. They’re randomly inserted between the real-life cat videos. For me, most of them were either unfunny or felt pointless, as they didn’t align with the more authentic, organic moments that make the film so enjoyable.
CatVideoFest (2025) will be available in Australian Cinemas from August 2nd & 3rd, thanks to Pivot Pictures!
